How To Rock a Party

A good dj can control the ebb and flow of a dance floor. The final step in your development as a street dj is to be able to rock a party.

Getting party goers on the dance floor is an acquired skill that can be master if you follow these simple rules. Although this article will not discuss everything it will give you a good point of reference in your dj endeavors.

Most people when at a party don't really care who is playing the music, just as long as it's on slam.  There are those few loyal party goers who will just dance to a particular dj spin their favorite songs. They are the exception, we are going to talk about the rules.

Easy Formula

Hot Jams + Nice Speaker Output + Good Beat Mixing = People on the dance floor

Now let's get into the details of it all.  The formula above can and will work for you. But sometimes it will seem like the party people won't dance to nothing. I will help you learn how to crack the wall flowers and fill up the dance floor.

STEP #1
Always be polite to everyone. If someone makes a request, write it down and tell them you will play the song when you get a chance. If it is an odd song, then play it right after a slow music set. But in anycase be nice and pleasant, remember you are part of the entertainment.

STEP#2
Make sure you play what is popular, don't go into any strange abstract sets.

STEP #3
Stay on beat. No train wrecks(mixing off beat)

STEP #4 Be confident in yourself. People can pickup on you esteem. The more you have the more they will like you.

STEP #5
Your speakers need to be big enough for the room you will be servicing. If your speakers are too big it's no problem. You can always turn the music down. But if your speakers are too small it won't sound good and people will become angry and rebell against you on the dance floor.

By following these simple steps you should always be able to keep the party people on the floor.
